Stroll through the South Haven Farm Market
A great way to start the day is by strolling through the South Haven Farm Market, located at the Huron Street Pavilion downtown. You'll find all sorts of seasonal produce, handmade items, homemade baked goods and more. The Farm Market runs from 8am to 2pm on Saturdays through mid-October, and on Wednesdays through August.
Tour the Black River on Lindy Lou
An hour trip on Lindy Lou, part of the Michigan Maritime Museum, will take you upriver to the covered wooden bridge of the Kal-Haven Trail and back. It's a very quiet and scenic ride, and you'll even learn about the Black River's resort-era history from the captain!
Adventure Out on Lake Michigan on the Sun Setter
If you would rather head out on Lake Michigan, try the Sun Setter for an hour ride during the day or to catch the sunset. You're allowed to bring your own personal-sized coolers for an extra amount of fun.
Bike the Kal-Haven and Van Buren Trails
Rent bicycles from Rock n Road Cycle or bring your own and enjoy southwest Michigan's pretty scenery. The Kal-Haven Trail travels 33.5 miles from South Haven to Kalamazoo and has interesting sights and stops along the way, on a limestone/slag surface. The Van Buren Trail travels 4.5 miles to the Van Buren State Park, which is a nice quick trip on an off-road and paved trail.
Tour the Area's Wineries and Breweries
In South Haven there are three breweries, three wine tasting rooms and two wineries located a few miles outside of town. Between South Haven and Saugatuck, there are five more wineries to explore, plus three breweries. You won't be hard-pressed to find good locally-made beer and wine around here!
